Photo Editor Tutorial
This tutorial will show you how to upload a photo, all basic functions of the free online photo editor.
I. Upload a Photo
There are several ways to upload a photo. You can eighter add an URL and load an image that is already somewhere online. Or you can upload a photo from your computer or mobile device. Further, you can start from scratch with a blank page or simply use our sample image and do some testing.
a.) Add Image from URL
To add an image from an URL, simply copy that URL and paste it into the “Image URL” field and press enter. The Image will immediately appear and is ready to get edited.
b.) Upload a Photo
Click on the cloud or the “Upload From Computer” text to upload an image from your computer. It works the same way if you want to upload a photo from your Smartphone or Tablet.
c.) Create New - Blank Start
Select “CREATE NEW” to start from scratch with a transparent background (like creating a new file in Photoshop). The dimension of the new background image can be specified by typing in a certain width and height in pixels. Afterward, simply press “CREATE”. The default image will be created with 800px by 600px.
d.) Use the Sample Image
If you want to test the different online photo editor functions, you can simply use our sample image. Just press on the open-window the button “SAMPLE” and an image will immediately appear.
II. Online Photo Editor Basics
The basic functions of our photo editor are Crop, Rotate, Resize, Round Edges, Canvas Color and Merge.
a.) Crop Photo
To crop a photo, click on “Crop” in the basics panel. A cropping frame appears and overlays the image. Position and size it by dragging and stretching it. If position and size are perfect, just press the “CROP”-button to finish. Alternatively, instead of stretching the cropping frame, simple enter fixed dimensions in pixels into the corresponding fields.
b.) Rotate Photo
To rotate an image, click on “Rotate” and use the toggle to rotate the image. As an alternative, just enter a fixed angle. Click apply after you are finished with the rotation.
c.) Resize Photo
To resize an image, click on “Resize” and enter the image dimensions you wish to resize to. You can either add the dimensions in pixels or switch to dimensions in percentage. The tick set to the field “Maintain Aspect Ratio” will assure that aspect ratio is preserved.
d.) Round Photo
To round the corners of an image, click on “Round”, select the radius you want and click apply.
e.) Canvas Color
To change the background color, click on “Color”. You will be able to change the canvas background, but only if your image doesn’t fill the entire canvas. E.g. If you round your image edges, you can change the background on the outside of the rounded edge.
f.) Merge Photos
Merge is only selectable if you add at least 2 images/ objects/ layers. If you click on it, “Merge” will merge all the layers/objects. After this, they will not be movable or modifiable, but you will be able to apply filters to everything instead of just to a single image/object.
There is a zoom toggle on the right bottom corner. By moving the toggle to the right, it will zoom in, toggle to the left, it zooms out. Additionally, there are two small buttons on the right side of the toggle bar. The first one will zoom back to the original size. The other button will fit the image to your screen size.
h.) Save Image
After you finished editing, please press “SAVE” in order to save your work. If you are on a mobile device, the image will open in a new tab and you can save it with your default image saving method. After you close the browser, your image will be deleted.
